The Oiri Sumo series by, Ceramic Japan, features original figurines made from semi-porcelain, designed to stand alone as delicate decorative pieces. Their compact size allows them to playfully sit as a mantelpiece, naturally adding an unexpected smile to your face. These figurines are available in four poses inspired by the world of sumo wrestling: Shiko, Akubi, Hirune and Shikiri. The word 'Shikiri' refers to 'toeing the mark'. The preparation period before a bout, during which the wrestlers stare each other down, crouch repeatedly, perform the ritual salt-throwing, and other tactics to try to gain a psychological advantage.
