Day out around Pick Store, Charlotte Road

With our neighbours at Origin recently refurbishing their space, we thought it’d be the perfect time to share some of our favourite spots around the area. Charlotte Road, Shoreditch, has always been a place where creativity, community, and culture come together. Whether you’re starting your day with breakfast, browsing independent shops, diving into local history, or ending the night with great food and drinks, there’s no shortage of brilliant businesses worth knowing.
Start your day right
For the early risers or anyone in need of something hearty, BANGERS has you covered. Opening in a new space around this time last year, it’s already earned a loyal following for its iconic breakfast buns. It’s a modern spot offering signature sausage sandwiches alongside takeaway favourites such as slow-cooked baked beans, and hash browns. The menu keeps things classic, with their Original Breakfast Sandwich leading the charge. It’s everything you want for breakfast, and more, done properly.
Grab a coffee
Once you’re fuelled, coffee is next, and Origin is the place to be. Celebrating ten years in Shoreditch, their newly refreshed space reflects the area’s dynamic design culture, blending functionality, sustainability, and style. With soft lighting, a sleek Scandi aesthetic, and eco-conscious design elements, the atmosphere is warm and inviting. Whether you’re grabbing a quick espresso or settling in for a while, it’s the perfect spot to recharge before exploring the rest of the area.

Shoreditch’s creative side
Shoreditch isn’t just about food and drink—it’s a hub of creativity. One of the exciting new additions in the area, Hato, opened their new space on 20 Goswell Road just under a year ago. Part of the creative collective Hato Press, an independent publishing house that has been championing printing since 2009. Their new space offers a vibrant and playful selection of books, zines, prints, and lifestyle accessories, perfect for anyone looking for thoughtful design pieces or a little inspiration.
If you’re in the mood for some culture and history, The Premises on Hackney Road is a must-visit. More than just a café, it’s part of East London’s musical history. Originally a jazz hangout, the site has hosted iconic artists like Blur, Pulp, and Suede, playing a vital role in shaping the Britpop era. Today, it remains a hub for musicians, producers, and locals alike, with the café still buzzing with the community spirit of the old days.

Shop local
No trip to Shoreditch is complete without a bit of shopping. Just around the corner from Pick Store, you’ll find Sunnysiders. What started as a private showroom has since evolved into a fully stocked store, offering a carefully curated selection of Japanese brands. Expect a thoughtful mix of timeless pieces, all chosen with a sharp eye for quality and craftsmanship.

For a taste of Italy in East London, Dal Fiorentino is the spot. Specialising in authentic Tuscan schiacciate, this traditional Italian shop brings the flavors of Florence straight to the city. With locations on 74 Hoxton Street and a newly opened space at 6 Cheshire Street, just off Brick Lane, it’s perfect for a quick, quality takeaway. Each schiacciata is made with fresh, high-quality ingredients, delivering a truly authentic Italian experience.

For a fresh trim, while you’re in the area, the teams at OS Lifestyle and Time will have you looking sharp for any occasion. They’re new to the neighbourhood, but we’ve already become good friends. We know loyalty to your barber is a big deal, but between us, they’re definitely worth a try.
End the Day with Food, Drinks & Fun
After a day of exploring, it’s time to wind down.
A short walk away, you’ll find one of our guilty pleasures, Butchies. Their chicken burger isn’t exactly healthy, but it’s worth every bite. Crispy, juicy, and packed with flavour. It’s the kind of comfort food that keeps you coming back for more. If you’re craving something a little different, BAO is an absolute essential. Serving up classic Taiwanese noodle dishes, they’re a game-changer, delivering rich, slurp-worthy satisfaction with every bite. Not to mention the soft, pillowy, and filled signature bao buns that never misses.
Looking to stretch the night out? Head downstairs to their private karaoke room, where you can sing your heart out while sipping cocktails.

If you’re in the mood for something indulgent, Senza Fondo on Rufus Street is the spot. Known for their all you can eat lasagna, this lively spot brings big plates and big energy. For just £20, you can tuck into unlimited slices of their signature lasagna. Think slow cooked beef ragu, perfectly layered pasta sheets and creamy béchamel sauce. With their live music setting the vibe and bar at the back serving £5 Negronies, Senza Fondo is the perfect place to gather with friends and eat well for a fair price.

For something a bit more refined but just as laid-back, Top Cuvée is a must-visit. Originally opening their first spot in Highbury, Top Cuvée quickly became known for their obsession with great quality and creating a space where people feel at home. Their Shoreditch spot brings the same energy, combining a cosy wine shop with a small restaurant where you can enjoy wine tastings without the pretension.

For a proper pint to end the day, you can’t beat Bricklayers, a Shoreditch classic. If you’ve been out in the area, chances are you’ve ended up here, chatting with locals, enjoying a round, or queuing up a tune on the jukebox.

Shoreditch and Charlotte Road is full of atmosphere, and that’s just the start. Come by Pick Store and make a day of it.
